The North Oakland Foundation distributed $457,440.67 in grants to healthcare causes from Jan. 1, 2006- Jan 30, 2007. In the first quarter of 2007, we have already given an additional $51,000.
Thank you for your 2006 support! Because of your generosity, the North Oakland Foundation was able to assist many in need of care by funding life-saving programs and healthcare equipment for North Oakland Medical Centers and our community. Read below for more information about where your donations went:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – Funding for this unit made it possible for the skilled doctors and nurses at North Oakland Medical Centers to offer state-of-the-art care for our community’s tiniest and most vulnerable lives.
Euro-Pēds – Scholarships help children with disabilities receive cutting-edge therapy at North Oakland Medical Centers’ Euro-Pēds clinic. Children from all over the world have benefited from this unique clinic, which offers intensive therapy for children with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities. Many of these children will learn to sit up, feed themselves, or even walk for the first time in their lives because of this amazing program.
Community / Healthcare Grants – The North Oakland Foundation supports many important community initiatives and healthcare programs such as the Pontiac Teen Health Centers, which provide cost-effective healthcare to students in the Pontiac School District. Grants in 2006 include funding for nutritional training and education for students attending these clinics, helping them to live healthy lifestyles and avoid long-term health problems.Education - The North Oakland Foundation believes that a highly educated staff translates into better patient care. In 2006 we granted funds for our physicians, nurses, and support staff to receive the training they need in order to provide excellent care.
New Technology - Upgrades to North Oakland Medical Centers’ infrastructure is critical to the success of the hospital and ensures that NOMC staff has the necessary technology and tools they need to treat patients safely and effectively.
General Support - Includes grants to support many worthwhile causes including the United Way, NOMC employee recognition, and community outreach programs.
